Blue Denim Twill Gives The Nike Cortez A Rugged Appeal

The 1972 icon continues its resurgence in 2024.

Blue Denim Twill Gives The Nike Cortez A Rugged Appeal

Later this week, one of Nike’s longest-running models in production will receive a contemporary update imbued with luxurious leather textures for the modern day. Just a little over 11 months removed from its 50th anniversary, the Nike Cortez will also be exploring a mix of denim and twill in the near future.

Harkening to an era of decades past, the low-top model effortlessly mirrors the Air Max 1’s own “Dirty Denim” treatment from 2022. Achieving an All-American aesthetic, a tonal wave of light blue cascades across the upper’s denim-twill mid-foot section while the leather heel counter, vamp and quarter are stamped in an equal amount of the oceanic tint. Composing a repeating collection of neutral-based cream accents along the laces, tongue and midsole, a darkened slate of navy contrasts help clarify the profile swooshes, heel tab, inner lining and along the tread underfoot.

The Nike Cortez “Blue Denim Twill” is expected in early 2024 for a retail price of $90. While we await official release details, the pair can be seen ahead in detailed imagery.
