The adidas Gazelle Celebrates 1970s Football With Special Originals Collection

Commemorating Argentina, Mexico, Italy, and other nations ahead of international break.

The adidas Gazelle Celebrates 1970s Football With Special Originals Collection

adidas Originals is getting ready for the next international break with a collection of Gazelles honoring Argentina, Mexico, and other nations vying for a spot in the 2024 Copa América and Euros.

Football (soccer) is at the heart of the Three Stripes, which has been responsible for some of the beautiful game’s most important moments over the last 74 years. The last few seasons has seen the German sportswear retailer blend heritage with modern style to produce footwear and apparel collections for fans of local and international clubs like likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid, Italy, and Germany. The latest Football Collection by adidas Originals turns back the clock to a time when the adidas Gazelle was synonymous with sport.

Commemorative styles take on tonal suede makeovers contrasted by iconic 3-Stripes branding at the profiles. “T” toes take on different finishes across the seven-pair lineup, but “Gazelle” text on the lateral mid-foot revels in a “Metallic Gold” makeup that marks the occasion’s special quality. Old school insignias for corresponding national football teams land on the top of the tongue, replacing traditional trefoil logos.

adidas Gazelle “Argentina”

Defending World and Copa América Champions, Argentina is a favorite in any tournament it participates. Lionel Messi has taken over football-related headlines over much of the past year, bringing unprecedented attention to the MLS in the process. The national team’s adidas Gazelle keeps things understated “Cloud White/Glow Blue/Off White” that matches the celeste y blanco #10 jersey perfectly.

The “Argentina” Gazelle releases via adidas.com on December 1st for $100 USD.

adidas Gazelle “Mexico”

¡Ya se armo! So much can be said about the Mexican National Team’s performance over the past decade, but one thing can’t be denied: adidas’ work for the CONCACAF franchise is (almost) always a winner. El Tri (sorry, Alex Lora) is still looking to be one of the six CONCACAF teams to earn a spot in the 2024 Copa América. Its latest “Green Oxide/Wonder White/Gum” Gazelle is cool, but the team needs a resounding entry into the South American tournament if it wants to be taken seriously heading into the next World Cup. Unlike the shoes, however, Mexico won’t be donning an old school emblem on its uniforms.

The “Mexico” Gazelle releases via adidas.com on December 1st for $100 USD.

adidas Gazelle “Colombia”

Colombia has seen better years, but the nation can never be completely counted out. The squad won’t have Julian Quiñones as the dual-national has been called up by Mexico, but the CONMEBOL franchise should be just fine with Luis Díaz and company up top. The offering keeps things straightforward in “Almost Yellow/Tribe Orange/Off White,” allowing for the team’s badge on the tongue to revel in the spotlight.

The “Colombia” Gazelle releases via adidas.com on December 1st for $100 USD.

adidas Gazelle “Italy”

Adidas Originals Gazelle Italy Id3725 01

Forza Azzurri! The defending UEFA Euros Champions don’t have the same team they did in 2020, but they’re gunning for a repeat. Their latest result was a 1-3 loss to England, the team they defeated to win the tournament three years ago. The “Italy” Gazelle isn’t as flashy as the Luciano Spalletti-led squad can be, but it boasts a “Royal Blue/Off White/Gum” color scheme enjoyable to any fan.

The pair is available right now via adidas.com for $100 USD.

adidas Gazelle “Germany”

Adidas Originals Gazelle Germany Id3719 01

adidas and Germany go together. Over the last 60+ years, the European juggernaut has seen 3-Stripes branding on its kits. Its special Gazelle is no different, opting for a classic “Off White/Utility Black/Gum” color scheme. The old school sole unit underfoot also joins the two-tone party, matching with the Deutscher Fußball-Bund insignia on the tongue.

The “Germany” Gazelle is available right now via adidas.com for $100 USD.

adidas Gazelle “Peru”

Adidas Originals Gazelle Peru Id3720 01

Peru has long been on the losing side of the scoreboard, but its fanbase never wanes. There isn’t too much to currently celebrate about Juan Reynoso’s squad, but a special pair from adidas Originals could be a worthwhile consolation prize for la Blanquirroja’s supporters.

The “Peru” Gazelle releases via adidas.com on December 1st for $100 USD.

adidas Gazelle “Chile”

Adidas Originals Gazelle Chile If6827 06

Alexis Sánchez’s time with the Chile National Football Team is winding down. The CONMEBOL member has a long trajectory of competing well in local tournaments, but has recently been on a string of defeats. The team should bounce back, however. Its commemorative adidas keeps things fresh with two-tone profile branding and an eye-catching “Glory Red” suede across the upper.

The “Chile” Gazelle releases via adidas.com on December 1st for $100 USD.
