Nike Dresses The Air Max 1 LX In Glossy “Team Red” Leather

Tinker Hatfield’s Nike Air Max 1 is set to have a blockbuster 2024.

The revolutionary footwear design from 1987 has been appearing in a healthy mix of original and modern makeovers over the last two years. As it heads into its thirty-seventh anniversary, the first Air Max silhouette has taken a liking to color schemes perfect for spring. The latest example arrives in the form of an Air Max 1 LX, the luxe version of Hatfield’s performance-running design. Akin to other popular ensembles, the upcoming pair favors a rather clean arrangement throughout the bulk of its upper. The combination of off white tones sets the stage for titular “Team Red” flair at the profile swooshes and mudguards. A glossy patent leather replaces traditional suede, however, injecting a fashion-forward touch into one of Nike Running’s marquee offerings from the late ’80s.

Underfoot, the iconic sole unit keeps things simple, but on-theme. The Nike Air Max bubble and its foam surroundings favor a clean “White” look that allows the deep red components above to stand out. Waffle-patterned outsoles indulge in a “Light Gum Brown” finish that falls in line with other Air Maxes prepped for spring and summer. The semi-translucent tooling complements the shimmering branding on the top of the tongue, creating a compelling take on Nike’s decades-old design.

Enjoy detailed shots of the pair ahead, as you wait for a nike.com launch in early 2024. The Air Max 1 LX is priced at $160 USD.
