sacai And Jean Paul Gaultier Team Up To Deliver Woven Vaporwaffles

It’s been over two years since sacai and Jean Paul Gaultier formed a surprising alliance with Nike to deliver one of the more unique shoe collaborations of the 2020s. Now, they’ve returned in quickstrike fashion to deliver another collaborative release in two distinct colorways — and the release is just days away.

Previewed in white/grey and multi-color earlier this year, these woven Vaporwaffles were initially believed to be the solo work of the Japanese fashion label, whose namesake grey immensely after their widely-praised LDWaffle designs in 2019. The multi-color iteration is a bit of a homage to their original color arrangements, with both the red/royal and yellow/green appearing in this glitchy arrangement of ribbons, which weave into one-another in a uniform pattern. The white/grey could also be a nod to one of the earlier drops of the LDWaffle, itself offering a much more subtle take than its shameless counterpart.

As it turns out, the French fashion house is also a contributor to this collaboration, although these first images don’t quite reveal any apparent branding.

A release date has been confirmed for November 22nd, 2023 exclusively on the Jean Paul Gaultier website at 12pm CET (6am EST).
