The life and times of Virgil Abloh have been well-documented by both the man himself and countless fans, friends, and business partners. Although the Off-White frontman is no longer physically alive, his presence continues to be felt, seen, and spoken about across various mediums. As Art Basel Miami Beach commences, two more pairs of the Nike Air Terra Forma sneaker by Abloh have been promised by the brand.
In December 2022, the chunky, trail-inspired silhouette was officially unveiled at the posthumous “Virgil Abloh: The Codes c/o Architecture” exhibit in Miami. The installation revealed some unreleased product between the Illinois-native and his Nike, Inc. family. Fans understandably clamored on about some of the familiar Nike Sportswear and Air Jordan samples displayed, raising an eyebrow or two at the bold Air Terra Forma. As Abloh’s only entirely-new design for the Swoosh conglomerate, the sneaker marked a special moment for the brand’s longtime follower. All of Off-White’s signature details – zip ties, Helvetica text on the lateral profile – appeared on the silhouette, bringing some familiarity to the exaggerated trail-informed sneaker-boot hybrid. While far from Abloh’s most-wearable creation, Off White’s Air Terra Forma demonstrated the designer’s imagination, as well as Nike’s full-backing of him. He didn’t get a chance to see the sneaker hit retailers as he passed a year before the shoes released.
Two years after Abloh’s untimely passing, the shoe is back. Neither Nike, Inc. nor Virgil Abloh’s Estate have shared details about the unreleased styles, although retailers overseas currently have “Mantra Orange” and “Archaeo Brown” sequels scheduled for a drop on December 21st. The upcoming pairs have also surfaced via official photos, sharing a peek inside the beautiful mind of Virgil Abloh. As with their predecessors, the next Off-White Terra Forma pairs are unmistakably “Virgil, and proof that his legacy lives on.
Enjoy detailed shots of the pairs ahead, and anticipate a Nike SNKRS app release soon. The Nike Air Terra Forma is priced at $250 USD.
