Reebok is closing out an important year with another experimental collaboration – this time tapping Mike Cherman’s Market label.
Throughout its history, Reebok has been at the intersection of sports, fashion, and culture, paving the way for what’s now expected of sportswear brands. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, the heritage institution captivated audiences everywhere with a number of footwear products, be it the Club C or Classic Leather. Reebok also set itself apart from the competition with its Vector Tracksuit, a lightweight two-piece set that married performance and style early on. Market’s first-time collaboration with the Massachusetts-based company draws inspiration from the comfortable tracksuit, reimagining two already-modified Reebok Classics.
Offered in two different styles each, the Club C 85 Pump and Classic Leather Pump are instantly recognizable, but deliver a refreshing aesthetic with their iconic Pump technology. Cherman’s design approach aimed to recreate a “do-it-yourself” aesthetic: nylon construction, pronounced stitching details, and zippers appear “ripped” directly from old school Vector Tracksuits and applied to the sneakers. Sole units on the quartet maintain standard finishes, allowing for the upper to revel in the spotlight. Understated color schemes dominate the Market x Reebok capsule, but a “Burgundy/Gold” makeover on the Classic Leather Pump delivers some flair perfect for next spring.
Enjoy closer looks at the collection ahead. All four styles of footwear will be exclusively available via marketstudios.com on December 19th. A global launch through reebok.com will take place on January 5th, 2024, with prices ranging from $120 (Club C 85 Pump) to $130 USD (Classic Leather Pump).
