The ASICS GEL-NYC Appears In A Spring-Friendly “Ivy/Smoke Grey”

Another compelling makeover from the hybrid model.

The ASICS GEL-NYC Appears In A Spring-Friendly “Ivy/Smoke Grey”

The ASICS GEL-NYC debuted early in 2023 with the help of Angelo Baque’s Awake imprint. Over the following months, the hybrid silhouette exploded in popularity, appearing via other collaborations and a healthy roster of inline styles.

With the year coming to a close, the GEL-NYC is looking to take on 2024 toe cap-first. Recently, the mishmash of retro styles emerged in an “Ivy/Smoke Grey” color scheme sure to arrive by the time spring returns. Suede panels in the titular green hue cover everything from the forefoot to the lower heel, while also appearing along the tongue. Design cues from the GEL-Nimbus 3 come together with references to other GEL-assisted designs from ASICS’ extensive arsenal for a heritage-inspired aesthetic. Branding vectors on the profiles introduce a cream-colored finish into the mix that also takes over the sole unit underfoot, which was borrowed from the GEL-Cumulus 16 from 2014. Rubber traction, however, deviates in a “Smoke Grey” tone that complements the remainder of the hybrid model.

Firm asics.com launch details have not been disclosed by the brand as of this writing, but that’s likely to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy detailed photos of the pair ahead.
