Since its ground-breaking debut in 2012, Flyknit has woven itself into the very fabric of Nike’s storied history as it expanding the possibilities of footwear. Starting with the humble Flyknit Racer and Flyknit Trainer, Nike brought the recycled yarns to every sport imaginable, all while maintaining its place in the world of lifestyle/fashion footwear.
But over the last half decade, Flyknit was more crucial for utility than it was for style. Nike is looking to bring it back to trending footwear by delivering some impressive models for 2024 like the recently revealed Nike Flyknit Haven and Nike Flyknit Bloom. Then there are the true scene-stealers and borderline concept-car creations like the Air Max Flyknit Venture, which seems to combine that casual sensibility of the aforementioned two model with outdoor-ready use.
So is the Air Max Flyknit Venture a hiking shoe? The name certainly suggests that intent, and with the beefy outsole and padded ankles it would suffice for moderate-difficulty trails.
As it stands, a release is expected in early February with an MSRP of around $170; see the official images of this new Bronzine/Volt/Smokey Mauve colorway and stay tuned for further release updates.
