That added bump of appeal is that unique graphics that appear on the insole, which exist to establish the first year of the Nike business, which came in 1972. Prior to changing it’s name to what we know it as today, Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman’s brand was known as Blue Ribbon Sports, which is why you might see that label or its shortened “BRS” in some vintage-themed footwear releases.
