At just fifteen years old, British-Japanese skater Sky Brown has amassed a resume stronger than what most can hope to achieve in a lifetime. The self-taught rising star already boasts World Championship hardware, a myriad of sponsorships, and over 1.3 million Instagram followers for good measure. Now with eyes towards the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Sky and Nike SB get set to debut a special edition of the women’s Nike SB Pogo.
Sky Brown’s first signature design pays clear tribute to her Japanese heritage, her mother Mieko having been born in Japan. Standout details include an intricately designed Nike Swoosh, adorned in a floral print and texture, and a printed illustration featuring a traditional Japanese kimono on the insole. On the heel, Brown’s Japanese name “Sukai” is printed in two parts, offering another nod to her roots in fitting typography. The rest of the shoe keeps things simple with a white leather upper, accentuated with subtle purple and red detailing on the tongue label and rear Nike lettering.
No release date has been set, but expect these to hit skate shops well before the Paris Olympic Games kick off in July. In related news, check out the Nike SB Dunk Low “Live Laugh Love” scheduled to hit shelves in April.
