Claima, or “Claim A Seat At The Table,” is a Portland-based creative agency on a mission to empower the visions of black and brown creatives while shaping the next generation of entrepreneurs. In late 2023, Claima and Saucony joined forces on a limited-edition pair of 3D GRID Hurricane‘s to benefit education access, donating five dollars from every sale to the nonprofit All Hands Raised. Now the duo is back at it again, bringing to light a new collaborative 3D GRID Hurricane with a special nod to New Orleans, a city of deep significance to both actors.
Claima co-founder Bimma Williams states: “Everything I learned about creativity, I learned from New Orleans. I can remember heading to the city to see my first Mardi Gras parade as a kid and being amazed by the design of the floats and costumes.”
When it comes to the 3D GRID Hurricane model itself, there’s even more relevance to note; it was designed by Saucony’s first black designer, John Acevedo.
This latest “NOLA” take executes a familiar palette of purple and yellow coloring, broken up with a brown quarter and grey mudguard paneling. The heel introduces “Claima” and “NOLA” stitch across the left and right shoes, respectively, while reflective detailing just above adds subtle flair. Otherwise, the design adopts a clean white mesh base and midsole for balanced color variety.
The Claima x Saucony 3D GRID Hurricane “NOLA” drops on March 8th at saucony.com, available via the purchase links here on that date. In the meantime, enjoy detailed images below.
