An autumnal palette graces this summer drop.

A model as iterated upon as it is classic, the Nike Air Max 1 is at its best when it relies on that decades-old charm. The latest edition to emerge, clad in “Orange/Black/White” does exactly that, letting the well-established, widely-loved silhouette largely speak for itself.

The orange shade, first up in the hierarchy, delivers its most impact dressing the wavy suede mudguard that runs the length of the shoe. However, it might have the least to do in terms of sheer quantity, only gracing the sockliner and rear branding outside of that. The rest of the shoe depends on the monochromatic schema we’ve seen plenty on past AM1. Given how it still looks as good here as it did in ’87, it’s easy to see why they dipped back into that formula.

Though many similar recent releases have added to the Air Max Day slate, this Nike Air Max 1 is instead expected to drop sometime this summer. Anticipate a $140 retail price when they do come about, and enjoy a gallery of initial looks just ahead.

Speaking of that holiday, a whole host of new Nike Air Max Dn colorways emerged out of Oregon yesterday. Check out our latest coverage on the model as Air Max Day proper approaches.
