The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” Is Back, But As A Mule

Anticipated for Summer 2024.

The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” Is Back, But As A Mule

One of the most popular New Balance 2002R Protection Pack colorways is coming back, only in mule form.

Official retailer images reveal a “Rain Cloud” 2002 Mule with the same distressed, chewed off aesthetic put front and center across Protection Pack pairs. Light grey overlays appear over various dark treatments, with a notable splash of hairy suede appearing on the quarter just above the New Balance logo. An additional grey suede panel rests over the tongue in the absence of laces, but the outsole remains consistent with the look of the “Rain Cloud” 2002R colorway.

No official release or price information has been made public at the time of this writing, but all indications point towards a Summer 2024 drop. Naturally, news of this release opens the door for speculation on the possibility of more Protection Pack 2002 Mule colorways down the line. Given New Balance’s already large lineup of 2002 Mules, the arrival of more Protection Pack pairs appears more likely than not.

In any case, keep a close eye on our Sneaker Release Dates for all the latest updates. For more New Balance coverage, check out the brand’s upcoming New Balance 550 colorways.
