Updated May 1st, 2024: The raffle for the PJ Tucker x Nike Air Flight ’89 is live at The Better Generation. The shoes are limited to just 472 pairs, symbolizing the number of seats on a Boeing 777-300, a popular airplane used by Air France. Additionally, each pair comes with a “seat number” on the inside of the tongue. Enter the raffle via The Better Generation by 7:00 PM EST on May 5th. The shoes will also release at The Better Generation’s Houston location on that date. The Air Flight ’89 is considered to be the “cousin” of another iconic sneaker from 1989; that model, the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue”, launches on May 4th.

Updated April 23rd, 2024: @thebettergeneration, PJ Tucker’s Houston based boutique, shared a teaser image and a short clip promoting his upcoming Air Flight ’89 collaboration. Per that info, the pair is expected to release on May 5th. It also elucidated some of the inspiration behind the pair, with NBA player’s frequent travel schedule and the in-air they seek out as a result apparently a touchpoint in the making of the shoe. You can find the teaser image embedded below.
NBA sneaker king PJ Tucker is set to release his very own Nike Air Flight 89 collaboration. First images courtesy of @NickDePaula were quickly followed by Tucker wearing the shoe ahead of the Clippers-Nuggets game on April 4th, showcasing an icy design with custom “PJ17” stitching on the heel.
The 13-year veteran’s sneaker wardrobe knows no bounds, Tucker having worn countless PEs ranging from colorful Kobe’s to contemporary Nike and Jordan classics throughout his career. His Nike Air Flight 89 collaboration falls into the latter of those two categories, decked out in baby blue pebbled leather alongside white secondary accents.
Additionally, the shoes also appear to come with special packaging that’s much more than a throw-in; a blue Samsonite suitcase with a Swoosh and PJ Tucker luggage tag. Essential hardware for NBA road life that normally goes for upwards of $200 on its own.
No word on a release date has been mentioned at the time of this writing, but that could change in the coming months as the NBA playoffs come to light. Given the shoe’s renowned collaborator and Samsonite “packaging”, Tucker’s Air Flight 89 will likely see a limited release and high price tag. In any case, return to our Sneaker Release Dates page for updates while we learn more.
