Matt Varga You can count on PUMA to bring some truly unexpected brands into the sneaker world. There’s a deep canon of examples, from the One Piece PUMA collection to the varied partners for the PUMA Scoot Zero, including NBA 2K and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Given that, it should come as no shock they’re staying true to character via the Sony Playstation x PUMA Suede.
As one of the defining consoles of the modern era, the Playstation has hosted some of the most iconic video game characters in history. However, this collection celebrates the hardware itself, making heavy use of the triangle/square/X/O control scheme across the shoe. It’s embossed into suede on the quarter, as well as dotting the tongue and a special edition hangtag in co-branded fashion. The palette is too influenced by the console, the inspiration clearly seen on the packaging that mirrors the PS5’s box. While the dialed-in details are more easily visible on the grey pair here, the nocturnal edition isn’t lacking in any of it, largely consistent outside of the palette swap up top and on the midsole gradient.
Both pairs of Playstation x Puma Suede will release on April 18th at 12AM EST, carrying a $100 MSRP. Also included in the collection are two pairs of PUMA RS-X that largely mirror these colorways.
