Flashy treatments spruce up a timeless silhouette.

The Nike Cortez “Honeycomb” Features A Metallic Silver Swoosh

Nike appears to be giving the Cortez a bit more attention than usual, a welcome development for all who champion retro design. They’re bringing back the “Forrest Gump” Cortez on May 8th and keep supplementing the market with other headline-worthy pairs; an “Oregon” Cortez and Paisa Boys x Cortez collaboration are in the works.

This new “Honeycomb” colorway probably won’t draw as many eyes as those pairs, but it stands out because of its metallic silver treatments on the Swoosh and heel. The Cortez has been around for over half a century so it’s probably a stretch to say that this represents an entirely new application, but it differs from the model’s typical appearance to say the least. The base and overlays return to form in nylon and suede, respectively, while black hits on the tongue and midsole add a fitting complement to the “Honeycomb” namesake present here.
