Andrew Rizzo Nike’s evolved beyond simply slapping the color pink on women’s sneakers and calling it a day, embracing a more sophisticated use of pastels and vintage treatments in its new and upcoming product.
Soft colors meet soft materials on this suede-heavy “Guava Ice” Air Max 1 dropping later this year, achieving a contemporary aesthetic through muted colors up top and underfoot. The mudguard and Swoosh take the titular hue, while the quarter breaks slightly in “Coconut Milk.” White mesh makes a familiar appearance on the base, and a “Sail” midsole adds a vintage feel to round out the design.
