As far as ASICS styles you’ll see on the street, the GEL-NYC and GEL-Kayano currently have all the juice. But real heads will know that the Japanese imprint’s catalog is full of gems that excel in the exact same line as those models. Case in point, the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 9. Following a similar arc to the Kayano line, Nimbus family offerings are true runner styles, but the rise of Y2K trends means the tech they championed in the mid 2000s is extremely fashionable some 15 years later. To the credit of the delivers a novel take on the concept, mapping those trademark tones onto metallic overlays. Slime green detailing at the heel, in the GEL units and lace stay loops add a ton of pop, while reliable black mesh underneath keeps things grounded.
