Wales Bonner authored a new chapter in the history of the adidas Samba by releasing her first collaboration in 2020, a milestone marker that has since been followed by other premium Sambas by her own hands, other high-fashion collaborators, and the in-house adidas design team itself. Now building on a catalog of luxurious pairs, adidas sends the Samba to Italy for a “Croc Skin” makeover.
Taken in all-black aside from white Three Stripes branding, the base and tongue feature crocodile leather that’s been hand-painted in a glossy, almost patent leather-like finish. Much like other Made In Italy Sambas that have surfaced in recent months, the craftsmanship on display here speaks to a high attention to detail and thoughtfulness. On top of the elevated croc skin base, cordovan leather makes up the heel panel and lining, enhancing the shoe’s premium feel even further.
