With the “Cult Classics” initiative and the re-issue of the Air Max Sunder and Clogposite, its clear that Nike is looking specifically at the late-1990 through early 2000s era to bring some energy back into the lifestyle game. That doesn’t mean this strategy is strictly retro, because the Swoosh is making concerted efforts to bring new styles to the landscape that capture the essence of Y2K. The recently launched Air Max Dn is an example, as is this all-new Air Max Portal — a women’s exclusive lifestyle shoe that is set to debut this Fall 2024 season.
Dropping just for the ladies, the Air Max Portal features a thicker midsole with visibile Air Max units at the heel. Meanwhile, the upper features a sport mesh uppers with synthetic leather mudguards that wrap the entire shoe and scoop up the heel. Even the smaller Swoosh branding on the mid-foot and the tongue is an exemplar of the logo hits seen in the late 1990s. The forefoot of the midsole also features unique moulding aspects, reminding us of the aforementioned Air Max Sunder that’s set to debut at retail soon.
The Air Max Portal is expected to hit stores in the early Fall season for just $110 per pair; see the official images of all three colorways and stay tuned for first looks at more Nike footwear.
