Sneaker brands are pulling out all the stops at Paris Fashion Week. We’re not even two days in to the June 2024 showing, but New Balance, adidas, and now ASICS have all made their presence known by unveiling upcoming product.
Without question, the Japanese brand has fully stolen the spotlight. Within an oasis-like pop-up decorated to evoke calmness and comfort, ASICS flaunts a massive catalog consisting of upcoming pairs by four renowned collaborators.
Building on her ASICS GT-2160 from last year, Cecilie Bahnsen now brings her modern vision of femininity to the first ever women’s GEL-QUANTUM 360 VIII, completely re-imagining the shoe as a sandal. The now lace-less, strapped-up shoe is presented in separate yellow and light blue shades, both of which come clad with metallic silver flowers in lockstep with the Danish designer’s typical brand hallmarks.
Staying close to home, ASICS has also reconvened with Japanese architect Kengo Kuma on a new Archisite ORU colorway. Pairs of this particular shoe have already made rounds online, but detailed campaign images showcase the shoe’s origami-inspired upper and the translucent shroud that rests above it.
Next, Australian sneaker boutique Up There checks in for the occasion, staking claim to a colorful ASICS GEL-Terrain inspired by all things outdoors; as evidence by the s-biner that weaves within the laces. Meant to reflect the relationships between the natural and artificial world, the shoes are presented on “creatures” made from recycled materials.
Concluding the collaborative slate, Tokyo-based label doublet will preview its upcoming GEL-Kayano 20, although it’s unlikely the shoes will be available at the pop-up. Instead, the brand strokes anticipation with a whopping twenty different custom GEL-Nimbus 10.1 colorways, shining a light on the newest member of the Sporstyle family.
As if all that star power isn’t enough for one exhibition, it appears ASICS is also flaunting new GRs including fresh looks for the GEL-QUANTUM 360 VIII and GT-2160 (pictured below).
Pairs are pre-releasing on a staggered schedule at the pop-up from June 20th – June 22nd as follows: The Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS GEL-QUANTUM 360 VIII will be sold June 20th, the Kengo Kuma x Archisite ORU drops June 21st, and the doublet x GEL-Nimbus 10.1 and Up There x GEL-Terrain release June 22nd.
Separate ASICS and retailer releases for each collection are expected in the weeks following the event. Know that our Sneaker Release Dates page will be kept current with all the latest info as more details emerge.
