News of the Nike SB Air Force 1 earlier this year set off reverberations through the sneaker world and briefly brought the “Uptown” back to its center. However, real ride-or-die fans know the model will never excel more than in it does in its simplest looks. The latest colorway for Bruce Kilgore’s design should be red meat for that crowd, pasting “Midnight Navy” on a platinum white foundation.

The color-blocking here, using the accent shade on Swoosh, outsole and “collar” (really the heel tab) is a dead ringer for the Air Jordan 1 “Metallic Navy,” a cleaned-up look that’s been iterated on and revitalized countless times since its 1980s introduction. True to that, this Air Force 1 succeeds in the same way most of those interpretations have, serving up a sleek “goes with everything” sort of outfit. If your wardrobe is low in Air Force 1 inventory or if the titular “Midnight Navy” is underrepresented in it, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more accessible way to remedy those issues.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Midnight Navy” lands this Fall for $115. Enjoy official images embedded just ahead.
