Original article posted July 18th, 2024: After fans waited nearly three full years for Fear of God x adidas final products, the two partners are ensuring that the hype around their relationship doesn’t go to waste. The adidas Fear of God umbrella is set to release its fourth capsule in the past 12 months this August, bringing new colorways for both the Athletics 1 and the Los Angeles runner.
Both pairs on offer here maintain the tonal atmosphere that’s always been a guiding principle for Fear of God, and more granularly, has marked all of Jerry Lorenzo’s adidas work to this point. The Athletics 1 utilizes the contrast toe formula introduced in their last collection, understandably moving on from the college basketball theme and bringing the shoe towards more everyday wear tones of grey & black.
The Los Angeles runner blends together similar “Sesame” hues up top while relying on off-white below. Lush nubuck and reinforced textiles succeed once again atop the futuristic, faux-platform sole. That section is highlighted by futuristic details like the TPU patch at the heel, a curved indentation in the center and the ripple outsole all the way underfoot.
Launches for both the pairs featured here are confirmed for August, but a more specific date hasn’t yet been revealed. The Athletics 1 will retail for $250, while the Los Angeles runner commands a $170 price tag.
