Devin Booker and Team USA have marched into international basketball in great spirits. While a few nail biters down the stretch threatened to tarnish a perfect record, they’re 5-0 as they begin the true journey to gold. For Booker’s part, he’s looking to do so in style. After the release of his Book 1 “Lilac Bloom”, the Nike Book 1 “Beyond Pink” emerges via an exclusive SneakerNews first look as the potential next step.

Much like that lavender-tinted pair, a monochromatic execution is on tap for this edition, functionally splitting the entire upper between adjacent shades of “Beyond Pink” and “Pink Foam.” On the edges, some accent hues work their way into the design; gold paints the embroidered “Chapter One” type running vertically up the heel and coats the interior of the tongue.Arguably the best detail on this pair, however, is the outsole gradient. Taking the underfoot traction from “Vivid Grape” to “Celestial Gold,” Book & his team manage to insert an allusion to the Sun’s modern classic Valley jerseys, wedged within the bounds of what’s otherwise a true lifestyle-minded colorway.

To that point, this shoe is the first in the Book 1 catalog to sport a full fabric upper, a standard touch on most shoes but a major curveball given the various textiles that have graced past pairs, be it snakeskin, reflective synthetics or even fur. Importantly, the outsole and material touches here mirror the just unveiled Book 1 “Court Purple,” setting up as a faux-pack for the back half of ’24,
