Andrew Rizzo While ASICS’ dominance of the ongoing tech-runner wave is carried primarily by attainable models like the GEL-1130 and GT-2160 among others in the $100-$150 range, the Japanese imprint has also come out with some top shelf runners with premium tech specs and lofty price tags to match.
Of all new silhouettes spearheaded by collaborator-turned-brand consultant Kiko Kostadinov, the GEL-Quantum Kinetic might just be the best, receiving rave reviews for its comfort since its August 2023 debut. New colorways have surfaced in batches, and that stays true here as three fresh looks appear to be en route for Fall 2024.
The delivery includes a high-contrast black and gold colorway with a splash of “Dark Sepia” on the sole, a silver and burgundy pair with metallic underlays, and an intriguing khaki/silver mix with green cushioning underfoot. While not a Y2K runner by any means, the model draws from several long-established ASICS series including the GEL-Nimbus and GEL-Kinsei in addition to the obvious GEL-Kinetic. Appropriately aligned with trending aesthetics and traditional ASICS hallmarks at large, most colorways have revolved around the retro-futuristic vibe present in this latest trio.
The GEL-Quantum Kinetic commands a whopping $250 MSRP, justified by its state-of-the-art cushioning system. The sole comes with Scutoid GEL technology featuring 3D geometry at an off-axis tilt, improving shock absorption while providing premium, all-day comfort.
