The New Balance 997 is back. And no, we’re not talking about spinoffs like the 997H and 997S, but the proper Made In USA model in all its glory. A handful of pairs appear in the Made In USA Fall/Winter 2024 collection spearheaded by Teddy Santis, all while quintessential colorways seem poised to return to the Boston brand’s mainline catalog.
We just recently saw the classic grey colorway arrive at retailers overseas, and now to little surprise, images of the tried-and-true black edition have surfaced. Staunch New Balance ambassadors need little overview, but the shoe features buttery suede overlays, textured grey leather, reflective New Balance quarter logos, and an Encap midsole for premium comfort. Like many Made In USA models, you’re best advised to go down a half size as these run a tad large.
Where there’s smoke there’s fire, so we can also expect the standard blue colorway to surface sometime in the near future. If New Balance sticks to its habits, we can expect all three essential 997s to play a role in the brand’s mainline selection moving forward. Pairs are expected to arrive Fall 2024 but we’ve yet to hear of a firm date or MSRP, so revisit this page as well as our Sneaker Release Dates hub for further updates.
