A pretty consistent arm of recent Nike strategy is finally giving into the ACG heads, bringing back many 1990s cult classics, often for their first retros since their original releases decades in the rear view. However, the Nike ACG umbrella is still alive and well, churning out brand new offerings alongside those retrospective drops. The Nike ACG Mountain Fly 2 is currently the darling of that modern initiative, now appearing in deep “Velvet Brown” attire.

Though it reads as a full tonal look at first, the majority of this shoe is actually split between just-adjacent tones of “Velvet Brown” and “Burgundy Crush,” serving as an easily-worn top notes and a tacit embrace of the shoe’s earthy endeavors. In typical high-vis ACG fashion, contrast notes of cactus green drape the eyestays and outsole. All told, the mission statement of both this colorway and the silhouette as a whole is displayed clearly on the laces: “Best enjoyed in nature.”

The Nike ACG Mountain Fly 2 Gore-Tex drops for Fall/Winter ’24, retailing at $180.
