New Balance 1906A “Protection Pack” Takes On A Xenomorphic Form

Extraterrestrial vibes take over.

New Balance 1906A “Protection Pack” Takes On A Xenomorphic Form

First released in late July, the New Balance 1906A, the deconstructed sibling of the New Balance 1906R, continues to surface in new colorways for Fall 2024. While far from an official collaboration (unlike the Reebok Alien Romulus sneaker), we’re getting a clear “Xenomorph” vibe from this latest pair.

For those unfamiliar with the Alien movie franchise; xenomorphs are extraterrestrial creatures known for their sharp, rugged features and black/grey color. They don’t wear sneakers, but if they were to slip something on, these 1906As wouldn’t be a bad way to go. The design takes a stealthy approach, with all the main core elements painted in black. As is standard for the emerging 1906 version, the overlays, tongue label, and even N-lock logo are all semi-detached from the base, comprising a distressed, avant-garde aesthetic not far off from the brand’s “Protection Pack” aka “Refined Future” 2002R series. Fulfilling a monochrome arrangements, grey accents touch up the overlays and rear portion of the midsole.

The New Balance 1906A “Black/Grey” doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but looks poised to arrive Fall 2024 for $170. See official images below and tap our Sneaker Release Dates to preview more upcoming deliveries by the Boston brand.
