Officially announced to return earlier this year as part of a massive in-depth preview by Nike, the Air Max TL 2.5 has finally surfaced in detail ahead of its expected Holiday 2024 launch.
A brief timeline of the Air Max TL 2.5: the silhouette first debuted in the early 2000s as part of the brand’s “Total Air” family of Air Max releases. The shoes were viewed purely as a sports/athletic sneaker and never crossed over into the lifestyle side. Like many of the other Air Max sneakers of the 2000s, the Air Max TL 2.5 fell short of hitting that cultural note in the right way as the rise of Dunks, Air Force 1s, and early-era Air Max footwear dominated the Nike Sportswear category.
It wasn’t until Comme des Garçons brought the obscure model back into the fold as part of its SS25 presentation at Fashion Week. With the growing demand of running footwear that combined modern appeal and retro aesthetics, the Air Max TL 2.5 seemed to fall right in that intersection. Nike later confirmed that the Air Max TL 2.5 would be returning during its SNKRS Live showcase in June 2024.
One of the two revealed colorways is this Phantom/Total Orange-Dark Smoke Grey-Vintage Coral, seen here for the first time in detail. Expected to release this Holiday 2024 with an $180 MSRP, the Air Max TL 2.5 exudes that early 2000s era with ease with the TPU exteriors and full-length Air.
A firm release date has yet to be revealed, but should be announced soon.
