Hiking aesthetics have never been more in vogue. The rise of brands like Merrell and Salomon to positions as defining street style imprints speaks to that, and the most prominent names have started to reorient their catalogs to match that demand. Nike’s embrace comes with the Zoom Vomero 5, already a buzzy silhouette that gets a slew of new hardware for its “Roam” offshoot, taking on “Team Gold” for its latest colorway.
So far, all of the looks we’ve seen for the model have relied on a relatively simple script, either two-tone or monochromatic. That persists for this edition, with the fabric wrap and the sole unit showcasing sunny “Team Gold” atop a burgundy foundation. Perhaps more notable is the grind sole underfoot; other shoes in the Swoosh catalog that bear the same detail are typically part of the sustainability-minded “Next Nature” program. With staples like the Air Force 1 and Nike Dunk taking on that initiative frequently, this would be a synergistic point to usher the retro runner into its canon.
In a Paige Bueckers-assisted press blast, Nike shared the following about the Vomero 5 Roam: “The shoe is designed for form and function, with bold tooling complementing a simplistic upper and a stacked heel delivering expressive traction. Clean and smooth-coated leathers are treated with water-resistant textile finishes, and thermal linings and closed seams provide low-bulk warming benefits.”
While a firm date for the “Team Gold” edition hasn’t emerged, Nike has indicated that the Zoom Vomero 5 Roam will begin to hit the market on November 1st. Expect a $180 MSRP for this look and all the upcoming colorways of the new silhouette.
