Soccer is Europe’s most popular sport, and while hardly as set in stone, the Air Max Plus is one of the continent’s most popular Nike trainers. As such, Nike has been busy outfitting the Sean McDowell classic in new looks inspired by soccer boots both old and new.
First, the Beaverton brand came out with a new offshoot dubbed the Air Max Plus Tiempo, inspired of course by the very same Tiempo cleats worn by legends like Ronaldinho in the 1990s and 2000s. Now, the standard issue model just surfaced in a new colorway inspired by Nike’s current boot series of choice; the Mercurial Vapor line.
Leaving little question as to the shoe’s inspiration, official images reveal a black, white, and light blue colorway with “AIR” text engrossing the heel, adopting the Mercurial Vapor’s defining motif. Moreover, the tongue, backtab, and mudguard are all comprised of textured black material. The same light blue shade used on the “AIR” text dots the mini Swoosh, while clear TPU overlays allow the shoe’s key quality to shine.
