Bucking its own retro cadence, Nike officially unveiled the Nike Air Max TL 2.5 for its retro run before a collaborator released its pair, with the SNKRS Holiday Preview tipping off a full court press months before CDG’s take on the model hit shelves.
Now, the mainline resurgence is set to begin in earnest with “Total Orange.” While not an OG colorway for the shoe release during its mid-2000s time in the sun, still the nostalgic bend of the shoe is on full display with this hi-vis look. The wavy, windowed graphic layers remain a standout feature, almost hitting on the same geometric design language expressed with the Air Max Sunder.
Indeed, that silhouette is informative with regards to Nike’s hope for the Air Max TL 2.5’s return to the spotlight. Positioned as a true sportswear model upon debut, there’s no mistaking this shoe’s proximity to throwback lifestyle trends. We’ll ultimately have to wait and see if it can capture audiences, but on paper, the Air Max TL 2.5’s bonafides make it a candidate for breakout success.
The Nike Air Max 2.5 TL “Total Orange” releases on November 15th, retailing for $180.
