One of the most highly anticipated Nike SB releases of the year is right around the corner. The SB Dunk Low Sonics, inspired by Seattle’s defunct NBA franchise, has finally emerged via official images ahead of its December 7th release.
Images of the shoe first made rounds online in May 2024, immediately generating considerable buzz. Those who recall Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp’s battle with Michael Jordan in the 1996 NBA Finals would likely agree that the Seattle Supersonics had one of the best jerseys of that era, taken in green, red, and gold with a logo that’s so wonderfully nostalgic. The SB Dunk Low “Sonics” suits up in those same colors, also incorporating some additional, uniform-inspired texture swaps. The tongue, which is thin and not puffy in a rare twist, features athletic material reminiscent of gym shorts, as does the backtab. Moveover, the Swoosh features a stitched, golden yellow border to match the tongue and heel branding.
The Supersonics moved to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder in 2008, but Seattle locals still hold the Supersonics name and legacy dear. As the NBA eyes expansion, it’s possible if not likely we’ll see pro basketball return to the Emerald City in the next few years.
The SB Dunk Low “Sonics” will release via Nike SNKRS on December 7th, likely preceded by a skate shop release a week prior. Enjoy official images below and keep our “Where To Buy” section handy for purchase links on that date.
Sticking with the Swoosh, check out the Nike Air Max 1000 debuting at ComplexCon.
