The adidas Anthony Edwards 1 Low “Iron” releases on November 29th (Black Friday) via adidas and select retailers. The shoes will be available in men’s sizing ($110) and grade school / big kids’ sizing ($90). The adidas Anthony Edwards 1 Low brought renewed energy to the already red-hot silhouette in Summer 2024, and a steady stream of impressive colorways has kept that momentum going. The “Iron” or “Iron Sharpens Iron” colorway continues a constant spate of metallic colorways that began with the “All-Star” edition towards the model’s debut.

Aesthetically, the adidas Anthony Edwards 1 “Iron” executes its theme with darkened reflective panels that deliver the titular shade, with flares of orange throughout evoking a red-hot forge. Narratively, it’s another reminder of Ant’s killer instinct, evoking a “pressure makes diamonds” motif that hits especially hard given the battles that Edwards and the Timberwolves engaged in during their run to the Western Conference championship. Speaking of, Ant himself teased the pair in an early November game against the Nuggets, rematch of the divisional round. Jumping back a few weeks, the buzzy “campfire story” spot further added fire to the foundry.
Zooming out, as we’ve mentioned before in our coverage of the silhouette, the adidas Anthony Edwards 1 is all but guaranteed to make most “sneaker of the year” lists, an formal way to carve out which shoes truly defined 2024. To be sure, the edgy, boisterous advertising push that the Three Stripes put behind Ant’s signature shoe is a major driver in that one. Still without the futuristic design language of adidas Basketball, there’s no way the silo would be in this spot. The Harden Vol. 6 and Dame 9 elucidate that point further, but as we stare down the adidas Anthony Edwards 1 “Iron,” #5 is #1 once again.
