Comme des Garçons PLAY Goes Skating With The Converse One Star Academy Pro

Comme des Garçons PLAY and Converse are building on their partnership with two One Star Academy Pro colorways, marking the Japanese fashion brand’s first ever project under Converse’s performance skate umbrella.

You don’t have to be a sneakerhead to be aware of Comme des Garçons x Converse. It’s pretty rare when a collaboration becomes era-defining, but the CDG x Chuck 70 was simply that shoe in the mid to late 2010s. While heart-adorned Chucks have become the butt of jokes and endless memes since they went mainstream, the two brands’ collaborative output has remained popular among a decent segment of consumers.

With that being said, the design of CDG’s two One Star Academy Pros strikes a familiar note. One comes in “Milk/Black” while the other appears in “Black/Egret,” both of which feature red, screen printed heart logos around the lateral quarter. Perhaps it would have been nice to see CDG transform the star cutout into a heart in similar vein to Stüssy’s One Star from 2022, but alas, the traditional Converse branding isn’t interrupted here.

The Comme des Garçons PLAY x Converse One Star Academy Pro releases in-store and online via Dover Street Market on Friday, December 6th. Given what we know about CDG sneaker collabs, expect a shelf price well above the model’s standard $85 MSRP.
