As “sneaker of the year” conversations finalize, SoleFly is about to deliver a buzzer-beater contender for the title. As touched on in our interview with brand co-founder Carlos Prieto, the retailer’s Miami home, Cuban heritage and the coffee culture at the intersection of both truly drives the design, and it’s almost time for the sentimental release to go public. Via their socials, SoleFly officially unveiled the Air Jordan 12 “Cafecito” and released info for grabbing a pair.

While the simple construction of the Air Jordan 12 has propelled the model to become an all-time fan favorite, it also inherently limits the color-blocking opportunities for the shoe. Resultingly, SoleFly’s take on the silhouette keeps to a two-tone layout, with cream off-white and mocha brown taking over the profile.

Even if the colors are easily digestible, the brand does an excellent job of sneaking some extra details into the shoe; contrasting cracked leather on the upper and buttery leather on the mudguard does much of the heavy lifting in that regard. Underfoot, you can catch another centerpiece, a geometric outsole that harkens to the Cuban tiling found in so many cafecito spots in Miami. Finally, SoleFly closes its Jordan 12 with a burlap dust bag that mirrors traditional coffee bean packaging.

As many collabs do, the SoleFly Jordan 12 arrives with an accompanying apparel collection; tees, a camp shirt, and leather shorts are among the highlights in that crop. Many of these pieces carry a coffee-stain takedown of the brand’s logo, a further execution of the central motif that elevates it beyond your typical collab fare.

The Solefly Jordan 12 “Cafecito” releases first via in-person early access at Chug’s Diner on December 5th. A global online launch via SoleFly.com follows on December 6th — retail is set at $225 for either launch. Note that this pair will be exclusive to SoleFly as far as retail releases; no other stores will have this AJ12.
