However, Converse has shown plenty of willingness to drape its models in all-over crystal treatments as well. Though 2024 has left that relationship only touched by the Converse De Luxe Squared in January, the two partners are bookending the year with a bejeweled Swarovski take on the Converse Run Star Trainer.
While the silhouette featured here unquestionably has a ton of retro DNA, note that it only made its market debut in June, a combination of “over 20 Converse models” that each played a part in Olympics past. Spinning that podium pedigree into refined luxury is accomplished naturally; the crystals affix largely to the quarter panel, creating a mosaic look with differing jewel sizes.
However, that’s not the end of the differences from mainline Converse Run Star Trainer pairs; a lifestyle-minded build of nylon, mesh, and synthetics instead swaps to suede and satin, culminating with a glittery finish on the tongue. Even if the materials at play executed a more elevated lean, the palette of “Deep Emerald” and gum ensures everyday wearability — if you’re willing to stomach pulling these out of the closet that regularly, that is.
