The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” was a hit among sneakerheads, so much so that the Boston brand has brought a similar deconstructed aesthetic to the 1906R by way of an offshoot called the 1906A. While New Balance 1906A drops have been more sporadic and limited than 1906R releases since the model debuted in July, every colorway has been met with high praise and therefore considerable demand from New Balance aficionados. This “Great Plains” colorway looks to keep the model’s momentum going, currently expected to release stateside in 2025.
The “Great Plains” name derives from the semi-attached suede panels on the sides and forefoot, taken in earthy tan shades akin to Midwestern scenery. A taupe NLOCK logo and cream/dark brown midsole build on the natural color palette, but the mesh base and heel counter go in a different direction with light and dark grey treatments, respectively.
The New Balance 1906A “Great Plains” has already begun surfacing at European retailers like SNS, with a stateside release projected for the Spring 2025 shopping season. See official images below and stay tuned for further updates.
