First Look At The CLOT adidas Superstar “Chinese New Year”

Festive flair on the reimagined staple.

First Look At The CLOT adidas Superstar “Chinese New Year”

Can adidas and Edison Chen outpace the historic CLOT Nike relationship they’re following up? With a heavy stream of products coming out of the two partners’ worksop, it doesn’t seem as wild of a proposition as it once was. Just over a day after the official announcement of the CLOT Dress Superstar, we’re getting initial looks at their presumed next step, the CLOT adidas Superstar “Chinese New Year.”

Though the tassels themselves aren’t a new touch for Chen nor CLOT, pasting them onto this shoe in fire red is certainly novel. Combine that with the The materials are also a fresh development, swapping the wax ribbon material of previous classy editions for true tassel finishes, contrasting the gilded accents that run throughout the upper. Zooming out, the patent leather hallmark of many CLOT adidas shoes is absent here, instead opting for a more “traditional” blend of croc leather, sheer synthetics and suede. Of course, the shoe rounds out with the recent trademarks of the CLOT adidas relationship; the iconic shell toe present on all Superstar colorways and the rigid, ridged “ripple sole” that helped kick off the relationship in the first place.

Look for the adidas CLOT Superstar “Chinese New Year” sometime in January/February, retailing for $200. Catch first look imagery ahead and keep an eye on our Sneaker Release Dates for additional updates.

Elsewhere in the Three Stripes universe, we got the official unveiling of the Harden Vol. 9.
