Matt Varga While it may not show in the standings, LaMelo Ball has been stellar this year (when he’s been able to suit up), a 30 PPG average one of the many dazzling stats that propelled him to lead the first All-Star voting returns. The latest signature LaMelo Ball shoes, the PUMA MB.04, has also been on a hot streak, adding a new collab dimension to its history on top of its trademark ultra-vibrant mainline looks.
One of the shoe’s most popular link-ups to date has been its trip into the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but after a debut collection, it appears there’s still meat left on the bone with the upcoming “Baxter Stockman” edition of the PUMA MB.01. While eschewing the most recent model in the series may be a surprise to newfound fans, this isn’t entirely beyond the pale — PUMA bucked tradition by launching bring-back efforts of LaMelo shoes just a few years after their first release.
Having obviously checked off the main four, PUMA opts for a pretty deep cut in diving further into the TMNT Universe. Rather than the likes of Splinter, Shredder, Amy O’Neil or Casey Jones, mad scientist and secondary antagonist Baxter Stockman gets the call-up. While his robotic exploits already put Stockman at odds with the turtles in his human form, his insectoid transmogrification inspires this colorway, with flares of pocked neon pacing an otherwise all-black shoe.
The PUMA MB.01 “Baxter Stockman” doesn’t have a concrete release date just yet, but we’re circling a Spring 2024 release date for this collaboration. While not fully confirmed, be ready for the typical $140 retail price upon arrival.
