New Balance Borrows “Black Cat” On The 2002R

Jordan Brand has all but ensured that the “Black Cat” nickname will be at the forefront of sneakerheads’ consciousness throughout 2025, with the Jumpman touching down with Black Cat 3s on January 11th before bringing back the Black Cat 4s as we approach the holidays. While those two drops will rightfully the most buzzworthy all-black shoes of the year, New Balance is speaking to those who prioritize comfort with some “Black Cat” releases of their own.

Here we have official images of a stealthy “Black Cat” New Balance 2002R, arriving on the heels of a likeminded New Balance 9060. Black suede overlays and dark grey leather underlays wrap a mesh base, matched underfoot by an all-black midsole-outsole combo. Notably, JJJJound recently came out with an awfully similar 2002R collab featuring GORE-TEX material if you’re looking for a little something extra (which is releasing again via NB on January 7th).

New Balance hasn’t set a release date for the “Black Cat” 2002R, but pairs should crop up via newbalance.com and retailers in the near future. Budget for an MSRP of $150 if you’re compelled to add a pair to your winter rotation.
