Always the trailblazer, Ja Morant isn’t letting anyone else get the scoop on what he’s cooking up in Beaverton. He reported via his socials that he plans to “start leaking his own shoes” and kicked off that initiative by teasing two upcoming collaborations: the Swarovski pair we recently reported on and a brand new edition, the Kool-Aid Nike Ja 2.
Though Morant himself was the first to officially crack the seal on this syrupy Ja 2, detailed in-hand looks preceded his by just a few hours, giving us a pretty defined understanding of what this shoe brings to the table. The central design feature is a cracked graphic sitting behind the Swoosh, hitting on the Kool-Aid man’s iconic demolition-centric ads that have been a pop cultural staple since the 1970s.
In line with that, his “oh yeah” catchphrase is printed on the inside of the tongue, an alternating touch that itself aligns with the mismatched colorway on display. Already a calling card of Ja’s Nike output, it’s a sugary combination of neon blue and peach pink, furthered by the glossy “condensation” spots on the mudguard and heel counter.
Anticipated to release before the Swarovski Ja 2, this will mark the second collaboration in Morant’s signature line, coming on the heels of a link-up with the crystal company on his first model. Zooming out, this continues a pretty novel streak of collabs in the Nike Basketball universe, elucidated by the LeBron 22 “What the Monopoly,” its preceding pairs, and more recently, the Titan Sabrina 2.
The Kool-Aid x Nike Ja 2 is expected to hit shelves in May 2025, retailing for $130 upon arrival. Keep an eye on our Sneaker Release Dates page as that date approaches for updates on where and when you can grab your pair.
