Though the Air Max 95 is the model in the spotlight for 2025, don’t expect Nike to throw any of its peers to the wayside. Much the same way 2024 and the years preceding did, the new year will undoubtedly feature constant appearances from Air Max mainstays of old. The first cameo from the Air Max 90 pins some eyebrow-raising new additions to its classic construction.
A duo of AM90s that just unexpectedly appeared via retailers sports new textural inclusions and an overhaul of one of the model’s most reliable features. Namely, the mudguard on the toe, typically featuring a medial panel that dips right before the toe, is replaced with a full wraparound leather stripe. That’ll take precedence for hardcore enthusiasts, but the etched patternings that take over the quarter panel, Swoosh, and collar are more apparent for lay audiences. Calling to mind stone carvings, the new finish likely causes the heel logo to shift as well, eschewing the Nike Air stamp from your typical Air Max 90 for a novel counterpart.
Both editions close out with speckled detailing on the shoe’s front half, undoubtedly carrying more of an impact with the white-on-black contrast on the darker edition. The swap from all-black to all-sail is the most significant divergence between these two pairs, but also note the complementary change in the silver and gold eyelets across either pair.
Official images of these two Air Max 90 colorways will elucidate some more mysterious aspects. For now, they’re both available via AsphaltGold for €190 — a wider Nike release is still pending. For now, you can catch detailed images of either edition via the galleries embedded below.
