Following a series of collaborations with Corteiz, the Nike Air Trainer Huarache appears to be returning as a GR in 2025. We’ve uncovered two monochrome colorways expected to play a role in Nike’s Spring 2025 selection, one arriving in “Blue Tint” and another in “Sail/Khaki” as see here via official retailer images.
Originally introduced in the 1990s as part of the Tinker Hatfield-designed Huarache series, the basketball-focused Trainer Huarache was a pioneer in more ways than one. Just like the Air Huarache proper, the shoe stood out due to its neoprene interior and leather/TPU exoskeleton; it looked nothing like what was being offered at the time. It also provided a rare instance of a Nike sneaker designed without a Swoosh logo, which was of course something Tinker executed on the Jordan 3 a few years prior.
The Huarache family of sneakers would achieve mainstream success in the 1990s and is still remembered fondly to this day, although the Air Huarache is essentially archived and the Huarache Trainer hasn’t seen a proper retro run since the late 2010s (until now). While we’re crossing our fingers in hopes of original colorways returning to shelves, we can’t deny this monochrome “Sail/Khaki” edition is plenty clean. Different shades of tan are balanced throughout the design, and notably, these come with flat rope laces as opposed to the standard ones.
No release date has been set at the time of this writing, but eager minds can expect new Trainer Huarache colorways as soon as the Spring 2025 shopping season. Budget for an MSRP of $140 if you plan on participating in the retro movement.
