Detailed Look At The Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Masterpiece”

Releasing February 8th.

Detailed Look At The Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Masterpiece”

The Nike Kobe 9 is officially in its Protro era. Following a set of “Halo” releases in honor of Kobe’s birthday and a “Christmas” retro in 2024, the Beaverton brand is bringing back more original colorways throughout the course of the next twelve months.

One of four shoes included in Nike’s selection of Year Of The Mamba Kobes is the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Masterpiece,” which originally released in 2014. Eleven years later, the shoe is returning on the exact same day (February 8th) and without any noticeable cosmetic changes. Designed to tribute Kobe’s artistry on the court, the Kobe 9 “Masterpiece” features a “Volt” tongue logo and an orchestra of color on its Flyknit upper. A quilted leather tongue stands as the main separator from other high-top Kobe 9s, saddled with a slightly glossy, iridescent finish. As with every Protro release, the only main difference between the 2014 and 2025 editions is upgraded, more modern performance tech.

The “Masterpiece” is the only high-top Kobe 9 Elite currently reported to return in 2025, but fans of the low can expect the low-top “Beethoven” and “Moonwalker” colorways to Protro as we get deeper into the year.

As mentioned, the Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Masterpiece” is scheduled to release February 8th and will retail for $240. See detailed images below if you’re already budgeting for a pair.
