“Varsity Maize” Brightens Up The Nike Air Max TL 2.5 For Spring

The timing couldn’t be better for the return of the Nike Air Max TL 2.5. While its initial release under the “Total Air” banner came with purely athletic intentions, the lifestyle side of sneakers has increasingly bent towards that aesthetic, simultaneously embracing turn-of-the-century aesthetics at the same time. Bearing both of those design languages in spades, the model’s retro run continues with a just-unveiled “Varsity Maize” edition.

Consistent with the looks that Nike has let loose so far, pure white takes up the upper half and lower third of the shoe, leaving a two-tone split sandwiched in between. For the shoe at hand, it’s a blend of yellow “Varsity Maize” and “Midnight Navy,” sharing shades with one of the more lasting colorways of the Air Max 98, its “Total Yellow” colorway that last released in 2018. Whether that peer model influenced this pair or not, its Michigan-esque palette is still plenty eye-catching in this application as well, a good sign as we await public reaction to the revitalized model.

The Nike Air Max TL 2.5 is likely hitting Nike.com and store shelves in the coming weeks — keep our Sneaker Release Dates page for timely updates on exactly when. Regardless of when they materialize, be ready for a $180 sticker price once they do.
