Matt Varga The most iconic audio cue from the world of Minecraft is the fuse-like sizzle of the Creeper, an ominous sign that either imminent death or major destruction are just seconds away. The creature’s sheer ruinous potential has made it a symbol of the series as it’s marched to become the best selling video game of all time, well on its way to the same status for its media franchise at large. Part of that potential is on display with the Minecraft adidas collection, now inducting the Creeper into its depth.
As the adidas Minecraft partnership rolls on, it’s only right that the Creeper gets its time in the sun, taking on a colorway of the adidas Superstar. The shell toe model brings a rather typical white and black foundation to the festivities, with some of the changes pasted on top what brings this pair its charm.
A host of Creeper-centric iconography crops up throughout the profile, from viridescent cubes at the heel counter and toe, to a pixelated camo at the spine to a mini-Creeper lace lock. At least in our view, the most charming swap is the Three Stripes cut-outs at the quarter, peering through blown-out chunks of the upper with further cubic serrated edges.
The Minecraft adidas Superstar “Creeper,” likely along with the Enderman Handball Spezial, are expected to land in the near future. The shoe at hand will drop in GS and PS sizing, retailing for $85 and $70, respectively.
