“Vintage Navy” Wraps The New Balance 991v2 Made In England

The general consumer may register the New Balance 9060 or New Balance 1906R as the company’s top silhouettes, but the “Made In” program has excited collectors and brand enthusiasts long before either was dreamed up. In recent years, even new formulations have shuffled into the material-minded umbrella, with the New Balance 991v2 sticking out as a shoe that’s taken to this new life swimmingly, exemplified by the “Vintage Navy” edition at hand.

Premium craftsmanship and wearability has always been at the center of NB’s “Made” product rather than splashy colorways. The “Vintage Navy” make-up at hand certainly aligns with that, blending the aquatic tonality across the suede and mesh and the upper and the exposed ABZORB pods in the midsole. Doses of off-white underfoot and on the laces make for some tasteful contrast, while the brand’s trademark grey appears on the quarter and heel. Again, the palette here is exactly what we’ve come to expect from this sort of project, a complementary make-up that should excel as a daily driver.

The New Balance 991v2 “Vintage Navy” is already available via select retailers, indicating that a wider, global NewBalance.com launch shouldn’t be too far off. Retail will hover in the $250 range once this pair is available.
