Nike Forms First-Ever Women’s Collective Of Global Footballers

New faces for some of Nike's foremost on-pitch offerings.

Nike Forms First-Ever Women’s Collective Of Global Footballers

There’s no denying that women’s soccer is at an all-time high, perhaps best elucidated by Naomi Girma’s record-breaking transfer to Chelsea that marked the first million dollar transaction in the history of the sport. Clearly Nike is in alignment with the current boom the genre, as they’re enlisting six of their most high profile athletes in the category, including Germa, as “Nike United” to kick off an on-pitch collection.

While plans for Nike United beyond this moment are unclear, the ties that bind between the half dozen athletes are “tenacity and on-pitch achievements … empowering the next generation of athletes to set their dreams high.” In highlighting these faces of their respective leagues, the Swoosh is giving three sets within the group an additional enterprise to represent, splitting out their Tiempo, Mercurial and Phantom boot lines with special edition colorways. Each silhouette earns a violet and Volt colorways said to conceptualize both Nike’s DNA and personal ambition.

More granularly, Patricia Guijarro and Naomi Girma have their names (literally) planted on the Tiempo, while Lauren James and Salma Paralluelo hit the Mercurial and Sophia Wilson and Deyna Castellanos take up the Phantom. On top of the coloring, all three product lines sport uppers inspired by “shattered class,” harkening to a glass ceiling concept as each of these six women continue to propel the game forward.

Though the “Elite” versions are pictured in the campaign imagery below, there are 22 distinct listings on the Nike.com site, available for purchase now. The variations span across sizing and pricing, roping in the accessible “Academy” line into this announcement. Peruse all of the offerings HERE.
