First Look At The New Balance 2010

The brand's suede runner success gets a new tentpole.

First Look At The New Balance 2010

Since rising back near the top of the footwear world in the late 2010s, New Balance has shown time and time again that they’re not content to rest on the laurels. While the 550 was a star of lookbooks, they rolled out the 1906R and the 9060 which began their own street-level dominance once the former leveled off. Now as those two models continue their success, in comes the New Balance 2000 and another fresh entrant, the New Balance 2010.

Though an entirely new model rather than one that pulls from archival designs (e.g. how the 1906R took the 2002R’s sole in its return to shelves), the beloved 990 design language still lives on all the same. Namely, it’s the branching suede overlays and synthetic underlays combining for that classic layered runner look. This is particularly striking when viewed from the front, where the similarities to the shape of the 990v6 is uncanny. If you’re looking for a true distinguishing feature, it’s probably the diamond-shaped, tightly-arranged mesh base layer or the jagged mudguard at the tip of the toe.

Again, it’s worth celebrating that despite continuing demand and attention around the “elevated” side of New Balance’s catalog (read: the 990 series, Teddy Santis’ Made in USA, etc.), the Boston brand isn’t afraid to take a “strength on strength” swing like this. Expect the New Balance 2010 to hit shelves in 2025 — we’ll keep you up to date with the latest on the model via our continuing coverage and our Sneaker Release Dates landing page.
